Worsborough Common Enquiry….

Worsborough 13 a

The Y5 Learning Council travelled to Barnsley to enquire into learning at Worsborough Common Primary School. The enquiry question they were asking was, ‘What makes learning great at Worsborough Common?’

The Learning Council spent time collaborating with pupils from Worsborough Common visiting classrooms, listening to adults and pupils and examining the environment to understand why it is such a great place to learn.

They then got together to distil the top 10 things they found that they felt would improve learning in their own classrooms. They imagined what it would be like if all of those things took place in their classrooms every day- what a fantastic place it would be to learn!

They now have a job to do- the only way they can make a difference is to change the way the adults in Middlethorpe think!

Y5 Council Create New Class Rules

The Learning Council have done a fantastic piece of work about Learning Behaviours. Everybody at Middlethorpe knows the difference between behaviour and behaviours and the Learning Council felt that the classroom rules we put together at the start of the year aren’t needed anymore. They felt that we know what good behaviour looks like and we should focus on learning behaviours.

The Council came up with some ideas of their own, thinking about the Learning Powers we talk about in school then went and interviewed other children. They then used their Distilling Powers to come up with the most important rules for learning. These were agreed with the teachers at a staff meeting and every class has talked about them.
